Abadan launches first rural market to connect farmers directly with consumers
Abadan – The first rural market in Abadan, southwestern Iran, has been launched to enable rural producers to sell agricultural products and essential goods directly to consumers, a local official said.
Naji Shoheibzadeh, head of Abadan’s Agricultural Department, said the initiative is designed to shorten the supply chain, eliminate unnecessary intermediaries and improve consumers’ access to locally produced goods at more competitive prices.
By creating new marketing opportunities for rural producers, the market is also expected to strengthen links between farmers and consumers and support the sustainable development of the local agricultural economy, he noted.
The cost of products for consumers will be also reduced and job creation will be provided for the villagers.
